18 × 24” Acrylic Gesso Board Original
This original represents a sliding stop in the equestrian reining competition. It is the iconic maneuver that displays a horse’s athleticism and control. After building up speed, the horse comes to a sudden halt, with it’s hindquarters sinking and it’s hind feet sliding forward on the ground, while the front legs continue to move forward until the horse comes to a complete stop.
I had the opportunity to work on a horse farm where the owners competed in reining and working cow horse. No doubt these horses are athletes.
